Yes, you read it right first time…we race hen’s here at the Barley Mow in Bonsall.

This Saturday its the 29th annual World Hen Racing Championships here at the Barley Mow!

Its a free and family friendly event…. and this year we are delighted to say that a very very well known, established and much loved BBC TV Children’s programme will be attending and taking part! Cannot say which show it is until the day before…but hopefully you can work out who it is!

Bring you own hen, or why not ‘rent’ a hen and go for glory….

Pub opens at 12pm, and when registration opens around the same time. Its free to enter and there are lots of cool prizes to be won, including prizes for Best Turned Out Hen & Handler….. Prettiest Hen….. Most well Traveled Hen, and other fun categories!

For the grown ups, we have a full Thornbridge Brewery beer festival, a great range of quality cask ciders, an all day BBQ with gourmet burgers from the award winning local butcher – Robin Maycock of Holloway, and live music from the supremely talented ‘The Natterjacks’.

No dogs are allowed on the car park, as the welfare of the hens is very important to us….

We also please request that any visitors to the event park sensibly and show courtesy to our local residents.

Hope you can come along and join in the fun!

Does the hen races actually start at 1200 sharp? My son would like to enter his hen, but we wouldn’t be able to arrive until around 1415 due to my work commitments. Would this be too late to enter?

Do you need to register your hen and complete a registration form or just turn up? What time?
