    Feb 2017
    Thursday
    - 8pm -

Raised on hip-hop and foster care, defiant city kid Ricky gets a fresh start in the New Zealand countryside. He quickly finds himself at home with his new foster family: the loving Aunt Bella, the cantankerous Uncle Hec, and dog Tupac. When a tragedy strikes that threatens to ship Ricky to another home, both he and Hec go on the run in the bush. As a national manhunt ensues, the newly branded outlaws must face their options: go out in a blaze of glory or overcome their differences and survive as a family. Equal parts road comedy and rousing adventure story, director Taika Waititi (WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, upcoming THOR: RAGNORAK) masterfully weaves lively humor with emotionally honest performances by Sam Neill and Julian Dennison. A hilarious, touching crowd-pleaser, HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE reminds us about the journey that growing up is (at any age) and those who help us along the way.

    Feb 2017
    Saturday
    - 9pm -

We are The Natterjacks, an indie folk duo hailing from the historic market town of Chesterfield in Derbyshire. We set out with our guitar and banjo, accompanied by the forceful thud of a kick drum and smatter of tambourine to create an energetic live atmosphere with sing-along choruses and foot stomping, banjo filled breakdowns.

The duo consists of Freddie Bingham & Mark Evans. We began playing together in the winter of 2010 after being friends at school for a number of years and as time progressed, so did our music, leading to the formation of “The Natterjacks” with influnces from Mumford & Sons, Ben Howard, The Avett Brothers, Bombay Bicycle Club and many more.

Following our debut album, “Highlands” and our following EP, “In The Bark”, which led to slots on some top festivals including a set for BBC Introducing at Derbyshire’s Y Not Festival, we are now set to release our second album ‘White Peak’, with tracks from this album getting us our debut national radio play from Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2.

  • Kris Dollimore

    03
    Mar 2018
    Saturday
    - 9pm -

“If you get the chance to see Kris live, do whatever you have to, to be there. You will not be disappointed”. New Crawdaddy Blues Club

During a career in music, spanning four decades, Kris has graced some of the world’s greatest stages and has played with many international bands and artists. These include The Godfathers, The Damned, Dee Dee Ramone, Johnny Thunders, Adam Ant and Del Amitri.

His guitar skills have always been admired, in whichever genre he has played. Now those skills are honed to perfection and they need to be. He has chosen a field where his playing is at it’s most exposed. A man, a guitar and sometimes a voice. No room for error and nowhere to hide. With largely an acoustic repertoire, a fair portion of that being instrumental, in the vein of John Fahey and Jack Rose, precision playing is expected and delivered.

Kris took the decision to perform as a solo artist 11 years ago and has toured relentlessly, travelling the UK and Europe, earning a hard core following of loyal fans which is growing by the day. This is backed up by the success of his first three albums, “02/01/1978”, “Now Was The Time” and “No Ghosts In This House”, which all received great reviews from the music press, both at home and abroad. His fourth album ‘All Grown Up’ has just been released and is attracting the same positive interest as it’s predecessors.

Psycho-skiiffle through to lo-fi Country/Folk sung by wood folks . . . If they are not singing hanging songs in the darkness of the trees, then they’re picking mushrooms or elderberries and sloes to make ruby red liquour to help them through the deep darkness of winter . . . 05
    Apr 2018
    Thursday
    - 8pm -

For those who prefer flesh-and-blood super heroes to the comic-book variety, “Battle of the Sexes” offers a real-life wonder woman saga with the power to educate and inspire, focusing on the drama that went down both on-court and off when Wimbledon triple-winner Bobby Riggs challenged ladies tennis world champion Billie Jean King to a boys-against-girls exhibition match. The outcome is widely known, but the backstory proves boisterously entertaining — and incredibly well-suited to the current climate, as King was both fighting for her gender and exploring her sexuality in 1973, when the widely publicised face-off happened.

Matt Woosey’s time is now. His eighth studio album, Desiderata, captures the most daring and progressive music of his career. His acclaimed solo shows dart between folk, roots, ambient and electronica. He’s an artist who slips the creative straightjacket of the modern industry, a trailblazer with no reverse gear, a performer who drags the acoustic guitar kicking and screaming into fresh relevance. “You’ve got to keep progressing,” says the Malvern-based singer-songwriter. “Like John Martyn. Like Robert Plant. Like Radiohead…”

Based in Nottingham in the UK, Magic Car swiftly cottoned on to the revival of interest in early American folk music as played by contemporary musicians. The band’s leader is singer-songwriter Phil Smeeton while others in the group are Hazel Atkinson (vocals), Dave Langdon (pedal steel guitar) and John Thompson (bass). Appearing with Magic Car on record have been guests Gareth Bailey, Rick Kemp, Ross McDougall, Stevie Otter and Jim Walker. The band’s release of their second album Yellow Main Sequence brought recognition in the UK and also in the USA, where it was showcased.
