Welcome to our wonderful little pub….the Barley Mow at Bonsall. The pub is over 200 years old, and is steeped in history and has many interesting stories to tell! Currently, it sees and sells itself as a small, quirky, boutique and fairly bohemian pub, with a great and well earned reputation for several things. A well kept and interesting range of real ales and cask ciders, generous portions of home-cooked and locally sourced food, an interesting, varied, friendly and welcoming gang of regulars, poetry nights, open mic nights, Film Night, French speaking club, Vinyl Nights, Jazz Nights, and the most amazing free and live music and entertainment. This is topped off with the kind of incredible atmosphere money simply cannot buy.

Due to the cold / dark / relatively uneventful nature of the pre Christmas weeks…as a treat, we are going to be showing our very own Nick Whitfield’s acclaimed 2010 debut – Skeletons – the Barley Mow features in it…and I, very sadly, do not…although I am doing my best to blag an appearance in his next film. Its eccentric and moving and very dark and funny in equal turns. Anyway…. Tonight. Thursday 23rd November. Barley Mow at Bonsall From 9pm. Free. And a free choc iceย

  • Nice review in The Times!

Matthew Parris, a fairly frequent visitor and supporter of the pub gave us a lovely little write up in his recent column in The Times!… Cheers Matthew! Who doesn’t love a packed, raucous and explosive one-roomed pub in the deepest, darkest Derbyshire? Free cheesy chips next time you come in. ๐Ÿ™‚
